Services Offered There are five main areas in which Wordsworth has a particular expertise:
The
services that Wordsworth
can provide cover most aspects of the writing process: planning and
management of writing projects, the design and writing of the required
documents, editing and updating existing documents, preparation of
on-line documentation and help systems, and the analysis and
preparation of training materials. Wordsworth has a lot of experience of designing and writing user guides and reference manuals that meet the established criteria for good documentation. Such a guide should be clearly written, succinct, have a logical structure, be "task based" and be easily accessible so that readers can find what they are looking for. User Guides should also always address the gap between what readers already know and what they are trying to learn. Early help systems provided answers to both “What does this do?” and “How can I do this?” types of question, but they tended to leave out the background information, introductions, overviews and general concept information. However, with many software applications now dispensing with a User Guide, and with less pressure on space, Help systems can now be designed to meet every possible style of user enquiry. Mostly using market-leading software RoboHelp, Wordsworth has extensive experience of creating Help systems that provide answers to all your users’ needs. Training

Design
of the training materials is largely dependent on the intended
training delivery method: formal classroom, self-paced classes, or
self-training. Whatever your chosen delivery method, Wordsworth applies
standard training principles: clear training objectives, frequent
opportunities for checking understanding, and regular reinforcement by
relevant "hands-on" examples. Wordsworth
has good experience of creating Quality Documentation, both
for organisations registering for Quality Assurance standard
ISO9000, and for Validation Procedures for scientific instruments.
Writing quality documents has its own very specific requirements: a
complete absence of ambiguity, coupled with facilities for verifying
and recording all actions for audit tracking purposes. Copy writing for marketing and sales publications has requirements that are quite distinct from conventional technical writing: imagination and style take a higher priority. However, clear and concise writing is still important, as is the avoidance of ambiguity and unnecessary jargon. |
